2012 Tournament Teams

 

2012 Mid South Warriors– 52+ Wood Bat American – Jupiter Florida

The Mid South Warriors won the 52+ American Division at the 2012 MSBL Fall Classic held in November in Jupiter Florida. The Warriors went 3-2 in pool play to advance to the playoff round. In the playoffs they defeated the DC Express 5-0 to advance to the semi finals. In the semi finals they defeated the Long Island Yankees 8-6. In the championship game against the Southern Maryland Titans they won 5-4 in a game played at Roger Dean Stadium. Mid South players for the Warriors were Antonio Jones, Howard Edwards, Billy Hellums, Scott Murry, Mark Clark, Mark Schuller, Bobby Hudson and Bob Smira.

2012 Boone County Braves – 35+ Wood Bat American – Jupiter Florida

Glenn Mayfield and Jodie Wolfe competed for the Boone County Braves in the 35+ American Division at the 2012 MSBL Fall Classic in November. The Braves went 4-1 in pool play to advance to the playoffs. In the playoffs they defeated the Publick House Brewers 5-2 to advance to the semi finals. In the semi finals they defeated the Puerto Rico Gigantes 17-6 to advance to the championship game. In the championship game, played at Roger Dean Stadium, the Braves lost to the Southern Maryland Rodeo 14-3. This was the 3rd time in the past 5 years the Braves (formerly Mid South Blues) played in the championship game.

2012 Triad Panthers – 45+ Wood Bat Central – Jupiter Florida

Glenn Mayfield played for the Triad Panthers in the 45+ Central Division at the MSBL Fall Classic in November. The Panthers went 1-4 in pool play and did not advance to the playoff round.

2012 DC Express – 45+ Wood Bat Central – Jupiter Florida

Jodie Wolfe played for the DC Express in the 45+ Central Division at the MSBL Fall Classic in November. The Express went 2-3 in pool play to advance to the playoff round. The Express defeated the Patriotas de Venezuela 13-5 to advance to the semi final round. The Express lost to the Raleigh Braves 18-0 in the semis.

2012 Tucson Cool/Arrows – 60+ Wood Bat Central – Phoenix, Arizona

Antonio Jones and Murphy Appling competed for the 2012 60+ Central Division Champion Tucson Cool/Arrows at the MSBL World Series in Phoenix in October 2012. The Cool/Arrows went 5-0-1 in pool play and 3-0 in the playoff rounds to take the championship.

Bob Gates competed in the 70+ Wood division for the Tri-Vallye Giants at the 2012 MSBL World Series in October 2012 in Phoenix Arizona. The Giants went 2-3 in round robin competition and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Sacramento Solons. Bob went 8 for 16 batting for the week..

 

2012 Rocket City Classic – 45+ Wood Bat – Huntsville Alabama

The Mid South River Rats competed in the 2012 Rocket City Classic held Labor Day weekend in Huntsville, AL. The River Rats won the 45+ division by going through pool play without a lose defeating the Bethlehem Stars, Huntsville Reds, and Southeast United. In the Championship game the Rats faced the Huntsville Reds and were leading 4-2 when the game was halted due to rain and poor field condidtions. Local players playing for the River Rats were Glenn Mayfield, Barry Cummins, David Emerling, Scott Murry, Scott Walker and Billy Hellums.

 

 

2012 Rocket City Classic – 55+ Wood Bat – Huntsville Alabama

The Mid South Warriors competed in the 2012 Rocket City Classic held Labor Day weekend in Huntsville, AL. The Warriors advanced to the championship game, but lost to Huntsville in the championship game 7-5. Several Memphis area players competed for the Warriors at the tournament.

 

 

2012 Bama Bash – 35+ Wood Bat – Birmingham Alabama

The Boone County Braves competed in the 2012 Bama Bash held the weekend of April 27th - 29th in Birmingham, AL. The Braves went 5-0 and defeated the Chicago Giants in the Championship Game to win the tournament. Local players playing for the Braves were Joe Pennel, Drew Hicks and Glenn Mayfield. Drew homered in the Championship game for the Braves.

 

Bob Gates competed in the 55+ Wood division for the San Francisco Dons in the 2012 Palm Springs Desert Classic in January 2012. The Dons went 0-3 in round robin competition.
